Good try Rams!

As some of you know, Toni's nephew Nick plays for the South Fraser Rams of the BC division of the Canadian Junior Football League. Last week they beat Okanagan for the BC championship. Last night they played the Edmonton Huskies, winners of whatever their division was. The game was for something called the Intragold Cup.
It was a lovely night for football, except for the fog/steam/smoke from the Bear Creek Park Halloween train that kept drifting over the field. At times it was hard to tell what was going on.
The Rams were unfortunately throughly waxed, 57-3. We all felt bad for Nick, but cheered mightily whenever he got a tackle. The announcer would say, "#54, Nick Mueller with the stop" and we'd all go nuts. The first time that happened the annoucer actually repeated himself - "I said, #54..." as if we weren't quite loud enough origanally. Poor Nick! If you can't embarass family, who can you embarass?

Better luck next year Rams!

Hobby accomplishments and goals

October

I finished my cross stitch of "Pigs Might Fly". I started the Welsh bookmark my mom gave me and one of my barnyard animals for the AQP. I also got Autumn Queen back in the Q-snaps, continuing my Rotation Round #10.

November

I will work on Kyra's scrapbook of school stuff. I will try to finish the Sheltie pillow. I will work the 5 hours on Autumn Queen and update the photo on my web site.

As your friend I will...

1. When you are sad - I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.
2. When you are blue - I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile - I will know you got laid recently.
4. When you are scared - I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
5. When you are worried - I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be and to quit whining.
6. When you are confused - I will use little words.
7. When you are sick - Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.
8. When you fall - I will point and laugh.

This is my oath...I pledge it till the end. Why? You may ask. Because you're my friend. Remember: A good friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you move a body. Let me know if I ever need to bring my shovel!

A historically important date.

October 21st, 1805 was the day of the Battle of Trafalgar, between the Royal Navy and the navies of Spain and France. Admiral Horatio Nelson, Captain of HMS Victory was mortally wounded during the battle.

My folks were in England last month. They toured the Victory, which is anchored in Portsmouth Harbour. Dad had some very interesting photos of the inside of the ship.

Dad also had pictures of Nelson's Column, in the centre of Trafalgar Square, just outside Buckingham Palace.

Special Angel Quilt delivery

The Angel Quilt Project is sending a quilt out by special request ( mine ) to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. On Monday night while some of the PAC moms from school were having coffee at Boston Pizza, Nancy mentioned a relative of her's who had a month-old preemie still in the hospital.

When I got home I emailed one of the project's quilters who I knew had a quilt ready. It will be on it's way today from Ontario to Saskatoon.

I am always excited to get quilts delivered! A couple of them went to Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro last week. I got an email from Shauna MacDonnell, the NICU Manager, profusely thanking the project. It was only 2 quilts so I felt kind of bad actually! They should be getting another 4 this week I hope.

We have a purple witch tunic!

It is together. It's not pretty, but it's together. I think I will get myself some of that double-sided iron-on tape for doing quick and dirty hems. After that, one hook-and-eye and we are good to go!

Now on to the black spider cape...

Angel of the Sea at 131 hours

I just took her out of the Q-snaps this afternoon. I am going to work on some little things for a bit, including the bookmark kit my mom bought me when she was in Wales last month. Then I have a couple of hours of work to do on Autumn Queen before getting back to working on the angel. When I start my next rotation ( round 11 ) I will post it first. For the non-rotation crowd, I will explain how I work mine out. Everyone has a diffferent method.

Photos hopefully

This is the 15 lb chum salmon that hubby caught the other day. He's down at the river now ( in the rain ) having another go. We ate some of Mr. Chum last night, marinated teriyaki-style and grilled. Yum!

Little things add up

Yesterday was a very frustrating day. Hence my pissed off post that had Bav calling me around 10ish last night.

Nothing very dire happened yesterday though. But throughout the day, everything I went to do somehow went wrong. And it wasn't that I slipped up with not paying attention and what I was doing got messed up once. It was more like 3 times it didn't work! Such as having to pick out a seam on Kyra's witch tunic twice. Stabbing myself with pins several times. Frogging one area on Angel of Sea three times. Apparantly I could neither see nor count yesterday. I took a break to play a game with the kids. Angus decided to do his impression of Godzilla and walk over the board. I burned my finger on dish water that was too hot.

All in all, there was nothing really terrible that occurred, but I was really fed up by the time I even tried to get pictures to post on my blog. I should have not even bothered considering how my day had gone up until then.

Around 9 last night DH and I messed around with Blogger and did get a picture to work, I just didn't publish it. Thanks Bav for posting the one with Gnorm and my kids.

Unhappy little girl

You know what Kyra said to me tonight when I kissed her goodnight? "Mommy I want to go back to school."

What do I tell her? That 2 sets of adults are acting like they are in Kindergarten and each wanting everything to be exactly their own way? That's really setting a good example isn't it?

I'm sorry honey but it looks like all the adults are going to be acting like children for quite some time.

I give up!

So apparantly I can't use Picasa either. I tried to use the "Blog This"on 2 separate posts feature at about 12:30 this afternoon. Neither has appeared on my blog.

I have tried to contact Blogger to see if I should be doing something differently. I put in my question and when I click "send it", Blogger puts this bit of gobbledy-gook'{U 4357628 B 0}
after my email address and the next screen I get says my email address is invalid! NO FUCKING KIDDING! Where the hell did that crap come from?

I am done, Blogger you win. See you all around sometime.

Chronicles of Gnorm, Part One

Gnorm the Gnome came to visit us on Tuesday. I took a picture of him with the kids and Angus. He also posed with the 15 lb. chum salmon that Toni caught in the Vedder River on Wednesday night. This morning he had tea with Kyle. I would dearly love to post the pictures here on my blog. I tried to post them right from my hard drive. The photo upload screen came up completely blank. So I published them to my web page and tried again. Completely blank again. I get the "Blogger is uploading your images" screen and that's it, no results. Stupid technology!

So I have provided a link to my stitching page instead. Photos of Gnorm will be hanging out there for a while. Please scroll to the bottom of all the stitching stuff.

Pigs are done!

After 3 years of it being in my rotation, my Pigs Might Fly cross stitch was finished on the 7th. I tried to post a photo of it here but Blogger made it look stupid. For a good photo, follow the link. It's kind of big, so give it a few seconds to load.

Full

Too much ham on Saturday with Toni's sister and brother-in-law, neice and neice's boyfriend. Good company though and a nice walk down by the river while the guys fished.

Too much turkey yesterday with my folks and sis and BIL. Today was shopping day with mom, sis and Kyra. Bought more school clothes for Peanut since Sears had a sale on. I also bought myself a purple hobo purse on sale for $20 and a black dress for the Christmas party ( also on sale for $44 instead of $80! ). So we went to Payless and I bought cute black shoes too.

A new black bra, some very shear smoky-coloured pantyhose ( control top of course! ) and some new earrings or something and I am good to go. Party isn't until Dec. 10th. Now a new shirt for Toni would be nice. I bought higher-heeled shoes than usual too so that we could dance and I can look at his Adam's apple instead of the 3rd button on his shirt.

One strike officially over, another starting.

First the good news. YAY HOCKEY!! Thank God it's back. Last week I was addressing and envelope of Angel Quilt Project stuff to Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The stray thought of "GO Broncos!" flashed through my head! I guess I a missed it more than I thought. DH and I watched the Canucks beat Phoenix. So much for Gretzky's coaching debut! Hubby and I are now in the "old folks" position who remember Trevor Linden as the new young guy. Now at 35 he's the oldest guy on the team ( and a tad younger than us)! Weird!

Love the new rules. Nice fast game. Shootout was cool especially since the Leafs lost! And BOO HISS to the Toronto Sports Network who just had to finish out the Leafs/Sens game and make me miss the beginning of the Canucks game. The shootout itself was worth seeing since it was the first one ( I could kiss Danny Heatley ) but normally I don't give a rat's ass what TO and Ottawa are up to.

Now the bad news. The teachers are going on strike tomorrow. I have great sympathy for the marvelous teachers who are just trying to help the kids and do their jobs the best they can, and none at all for the shit-disturbers. Now the government imposing that contract was rather a crappy move. But my Dad taught Math for 36 years and I know what the BCTF is capable of. Let's just say they don't always use their powers for good...

That's as political as I am going to get. No statement here pertains to any individuals in particular.

Cut out some pillow pieces

I've got part of the pillow pattern cut out now. I am making it using a cross-stitched panel for the front. It will have sashing strips around the design to make it big enough for a 14" pillow. The same fabric will be the back of the pillow, and I have a different colour for the ruffle. If it doesn't look completely horrid when it's done I will post a picture.

Pierced ears

Well she did it! We went to the mall after school and Kyra now has pierced ears. She did awesome and was very brave.

We also got purple satin and black satin with cobwebs on it to sew her a witch costume for Halloween. Now I just have to remember how to sew...
