Good eats

I while ago Toni bought a box of 4 lamb burgers from Superstore. We just had them tonight and they are really good! We kind of Greeked them up with homemade tzatziki, tomatoes from the garden, feta cheese, etc. We'll definitely get them again. The box was $5.99 he thinks and the burgers are a good size and nice and juicy. We each had one, we split one, and the kids split one.

Sorry IKEA

Sorry for my son touching everything. Sorry for me telling him to stop touching everything.

Well that's what sis and I get for taking my 2 and her little guy to Coquitlam this morning. It took forever to get there. Traffic was horrible and there was a frigging moonsoon in Surrey. We kept thinking, "at least it's not as bad as New Orleans" and then we had a little worry session about our bulletin board friends down there.

Finally at noon we make it to IKEA and decide to feed the hordes first. Half an hour and several meatballs later we were off to shop! K got a ton of stuff, some of which will wind up as Weezer's birthday present. I got one of those hanging toy bag things for her room. I also got an umbrella, a cutting board, and some really cheap cotton towels ( extra for guests, just in case ). Must remember them in future when DH wants bar towels...

Made it back home just before 5 and beat DH by about 5 minutes. At some point while I was gone we had a power outage. I didn't actually know what time it was when I came in the door, so I called Bertha to ask her a dumb question. Fortunately DH pulled in just then. Smart man actually wears a watch so we were okay. Thanks anyway Bertha!

We have gutters!

Okay, well we did before too. But now we have extended the downspout over the lower portion of the roof line so that the rain doesn't pour down the shingles any more. Toni bought the right pieces at Rona last night and popped them on in half an hour. With any luck the roof will last a bit longer now.

The Home Depot king

Toni always manages to find sales and good deals wherever he goes. Today he came home with 3 sets of track lighting for our kitchen. They are nice brushed chrome, with frosted glass "balls" on the end. If you have been in my kitchen you know the pitiful state of the light in there. The electrician must have been on crack. Each set of lighting was $20. He also got a set of heavy duty chrome shelving for about half price. It was on sale for $109. We put it in the corner by the sliding door. Two of the plants fit on the bottom shelf. He is going back tomorrow to get another one to put the microwave on. Currently it's sitting on a wooden shelf that would be much better off downstairs with computer crap on it.

If I think of it I will take photos. I'm going to put a fresh card in the camera before we go to my father-in-law's barbecue on Saturday, so I'll take a few shots to take with me, and I'll upload them before I go. Provided of course I remember! You'll just have to come over and see for yourself...

A few things...

We got the bottom half of the front of the house painted on the weekend. Now the trim up top is still burgundy and the bottom is olive green. Toni and I will do more on Saturday morning before the sun comes around to the front of the house.

I have gotten as far as my sister's wedding in the 2002 scrapbook. I'm taking a break for a few days now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have started my first official panel for the Angel Quilt Project. It's a Precious Moments design called "Let the Heavens Rejoice". It's for a special request quilt for a 5 year old girl who has cancer. She loves PM stuff.

The kids have been back at swimming lessons since Monday. Kaiser is doing way better about putting his face in the water and jumping in without anyone holding him. I think swimming with Daddy in Osoyoos helped.

We did "nothing" today.

Sometimes the unscheduled days are the best. Today was kind of an average day. Hubby went and got his hair cut. Now he has a cute little whiter patche at the back of his neck that isn't tanned.

This afternoon some ex-neighbours came by for a drink and to pick up some signs DH made on the plotter at work. Our former townhouse complex is having a BBQ next Sunday afternoon and we are invited as guests of the same ex-neighbours.

I got a couple of scrapbook pages done of spring 2002. Now I have to raid Lisa's inventory of paper before I do my sister's wedding.

For dinner we had teriyaki salmon, the last of 2004's spring salmon catch. After dinner we sat on the deck and relaxed. The local radio station has "Saturday Night Dance Party" with lots of good disco. The kids have been allowed to stay up late and now we are going to look through the telescope.

It's big!

Toni brought home our new 19 inch flat screen monitor today. I feel like I am sitting right on top the thing! It's much nicer and lighter than the old behemoth. Yesterday the old monitor was making an odd pinging noise off and on. Every time it pinged a line would flash across the screen. We've figured it was dying for a long time, so time for new one.

I love technology, except when it's a piece of shit and doesn't work....

Okanagan again

We just got back today from another 4 days at Sue and Phil's. We also spent one day in Osoyoos with my folks, my sister, and some of Mom and Dad's friends that are vacationing there this week.

Yesterday we went wine touring between Summerland and Westbank. We got a few bottles to stock up our new wine rack. Our wine stops included Sumac Ridge and Sonoran Estate in Summerland, Hainle/Deep Creek in Peachland, and Quail's Gate and Mission Hill ( where we had delicious gourmet lunch at the Terrace Restaurant) in Westbank.

Mission Hill has spent a ton of money recently fixing up the place. The web site is worth a look just for the pictures alone.
