Musings on winter

First of all it's rather odd to actually be able to muse on winter. I mean normally around these parts the musing consists of whether to take an umbrella with you or not. For the last week we have actually had snow! Monday and Tuesday were snow days for the school district. Dandy, since I didn't really want to schlep over to the school in that mess. So I have for you a few good things, a few not-so-good things and few musings.

-Snow days are good for family re-connect time. T did go work on Tuesday though, stupid man! Monday was spent shovelling, playing, taking pictures, story time, Weezie and working on our scrapbooks and Kaiser doing major Lego building.
-Due to yucky roads etc. we had to cancel the school dance for tomorrow night. None of us wanted to piss off the night janitor with slush all over the gym floor. We also didn't want to waste time decorating and having T set up the music if no one was going to come. We are a lazy PAC at heart.
-I don't mind trudging through snow when it is light and fluffy. I had a good march from the school to the hair salon this morning. The air was crisp and the sun was partly shining. I felt like was 5 again.
-It would appear that -4 Celsius is the optimum temperature for keeping beer really cold outside on the deck. T and I refer to it as "the big fridge". However when he discovered that the wine was getting thick we decided to bring everything inside.

Now back to our regularly scheduled winter...

94th Grey Cup

And the BC Lions beat Montreal 25 - 14! It was a pretty good game. The Lions dominated most of it, except for a while in the 3rd quarter.

Yay Leos, way to go!!!!!!!!!

Our new vehicle

T has gotten a very good trade in on the Frontier with Abby Nissan. The truck was getting to the point where we were going to have to start sinking some dough into it. The trade in $$ paid off what was left of the loan and we are just starting fresh. I tried to copy a photo from Abby Nissan but it was a bitmap. Here is the link to a similar vehicle. http://www.buysell.com/root/0/53282739/resultdetail.aspx

Ours is silver and not green, it has only 30,000 km and it was cheaper. Ours is an '05.

Powerless

I hate sitting around in the dark! Due to the big wind storm yesterday we were without power from about 1:30 pm to 6:10. T had an appointment at Abby Nissan yesterday at 2 but when he got there they had no power so he came back right away. He met us on the walk home and picked us up. In Sumas flats he said the wind was picking up the front of the truck!

We tried out the stove in the trailer to make dinner. Spaghetti was a success and we were warm! We also found out that it didn't leak from the heavy rain. Good, no tarp necessary for camping.

Now I have to catch up on the load of laundry I didn't get to do yesterday afternoon.

The second quilt

Dianne dropped this off to me this morning. She made it almost exactly like Kerry's. The back is a slightly darker yellow.
I mailed the quilts to Children's today. They should receive the box on Friday.

Thanks ladies! The generosity and talent of the Angel Quilt Project members is fabulous!

Quilts for conjoined twins

I found the picture so this post is a complete edit of the previous one! This quilt and one that will sort of match it are being donated by the Canada division of the Angel Quilt Project. The quilts will go to Krista and Tatyana ( not sure of spelling ), the conjoined twins that were born last week in Vancouver at BC Women's and Children's Hospital.

My friend Kerry made this one. She's an AQP member that I know from our children being in the same elementary school. Another school mom, Diane is making the 2nd quilt. The design is another angel bear, but the bear is holding a fishing rod that has a star on the end.
