I Googled myself...

...and 2 hits on the first page that are actually about me!

The first was the stitcher's list from the World Trade Centre Memorial Quilt. I did 3 squares to donate to the 5 quilts being made.

The other is a PDF document of the school's Jan. 17/06 PAC meeting minutes. Minutes are always posted on the school's web site. My name is mentioned because I seconded the adoption of the Treasurer's Report.

If you don't know how to search for yourself on Google go the web site and in the search box, type your first and last name, with quotation marks, like this - "Joe Blow".

Thanks Pam!

Me, my sister, and our friend L ( and sundry children ) had lunch at Pam's today. Thanks for a great visit! My daughter and Pam's oldest went to Kindergarten together and now that we moved across town I don't see enough of the old gang. Can't wait until that Tupperware party!

Angel of the Sea update

This photo was taken a few hours ago. I've got 185 hours done on her so far. Recently I have been working on the waves on the left side and the white and grey area there that will eventually be a seagull.
I will likely not be able to finish her in 200 hours, 220 maybe?

And Kristi if you are going to have an accidental 3rd child, please do it before I get her framed and finished! The names of my sister's 2 children will be going on it somewhere in the blue loopy banners. I'll figure that out when she's done.

I'm making bread crumbs!

I've never made them before but figured it couldn't be that hard. I had a bag of left-over buns from Bertha's 30th birthday day party. The bag has sat in the freezer since June. I had thought about using them for stuffing since they got rather stale from the party. Yesterday I came up with the bread crumbs idea. I sat them on cookie sheets over night to thaw all the way and dry a little bit. Then I cut them up into cubes and put them on a cookie sheet. About 30 minutes or so in a 250 oven gets them nice and dry and even a little golden and toasty-looking.

Next step will be to smash the cubes around in the food processor to make crumbs.

Tyrell, Part III

This is an Albertasaurus, named after the province where it was found. A sculptor made this one but elsewhere in the museum there is a skeleton too. These things were pretty fierce, and quite fast.

Tyrell Part II

This arch leads to the section of the museum dealing with the different "eras" of the past, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, etc. Each era has a globe depicting the earth's land masses at the time, the flora and fauna and climate. There are several skeltons in each section.

My son sees this and says "Mommy can we go through the Star Gate?". At the bottom of the photo is the back of my daughter's blond head.

Royal Tyrell Musuem, Part I

His Majesty, Tyrannasaurus Rex. The skeleton is way more impresive in person. And I am not sure why the camera made the nostril slots, etc. white. It was dark enough that I had to use the flash.

Under a mountain of laundry

We got back from our trip Sunday night and all day yesterday I did laundry. It doesn't look like I've made much of a dent though!

The Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller was amazing. The kids lasted for 2 1/2 hours, but T and I could have been there longer. We spent 2 days at my aunt and uncle's place in Calgary. One day we went to Calgary Heritage Park. Kaiser was thrilled that he got to go on a train ( big, black steam locomotive that pulls heritage railway cars around the park ) a tram ( to take you to and from the parking lot ) and a boat ( the S.S. Moyie paddlewheeler that goes on a trip out into the Glenmore Reservoir ) all in the same day! The park recreates life in Western Canada circa 1910 to 1914.

We transferred our photos onto a disc with my uncle's computer. I'll try to upload some when I can. This week is busy with getting ready for the baby shower for my little neice.
