Goal and accomplishments time again.

Almost the end of May, so time for the accountability that I need regarding my projects.

Stitching - not much due to busy with school carnival. Did however finish my 5 hours on the
Alaska sampler. I also did the first afghan block of the family zodiac afghan. It was a
quick backstitch-only one.
Scrapbook- did a bit more work to finish off 2003. I got as far as Easter of 2004. That will be
next.
Sewing - finished sashing strips around pillow and cut out ruffle. That's it for now. It will have
to be put away as we are having company on the weekend.

For June I will try to:

Stitching - finish the current round of 5 hours on Angel of the Sea, do a bit more on the
sunflower bread cloth, do 5 hours of Stretch.
Scrapbook - organize the photos I need for the portrait album I am doing. Some photos
need to be scanned. Maybe work a bit more in the family album on spring '04.
Sewing - not sure if sewing machine will be coming out. If so then I will try to get the ruffle
sewn on to the pillow front.

Happy Birthday Lisa!

My good friend is 30 today. Welcome to the fun years. I have had more fun in my 30s than I did in my 20s. I like to think that I know more, and know what I want more, than I did then.

We went out with Lisa and her hubby for dinner last night. We tried out the Indian place in town, Shandar Hut. YUM! The food was delicious. Their home-made naan was amazing. We are definitely going back again some day.

Weekend accomplishments

Happy Victoria Day to my fellow Canadians! We stayed home this weekend and got some stuff done. I am happy to say that the olive green trim on the house is now done. The bottom 3 stairs in the back yard have to be replaced due to a cracked stringer so they have not been repainted. T will either make new wood ones or buy some nice metal ones that he saw.

This morning he put all the rest of the seeds in the vegetable garden. We've had spinach and potatoes going for a while. We put in the garden out front too, and dug up all the bulbs. The tulips were starting to multiply so we'll have even more next year. The front garden bed now has marigolds, 3 different colours of alyssum, and hot pink dianthus.

We finished just as the rain started and now it is totally hosing out. Good timing!

So no AQP official charity for a while.

A while ago one of our AQP Canada members with a financial background looked into registering
us as a charity. Basically we will have to be a corporation with a board of directors. I am pretty sure this is how the US AQP works too. It will cost about $1000 to do this. Also we will need a lawyer to set things up properly. From Sandy's conversation with a lawyer she knows we will be looking at about $2500 at least. Then each year we will have to have a tax return prepared and filed for us.

Now this is somewhat difficult, but possibly doable in the future. Right now we are not big enough to worry about it. I did ask Sandy's opinion about at least having a bank account. I was thinking of running the AQP sort of the like the PAC for the time being. Since some of my fellow bloggers are my family and friends and are AQP members, we could have a "meeting" each month ( Timmy's anyone? ), a secretary could take minutes, etc. The bank could have record of who is elected to what office and who can sign checks.

I am pretty sure in order to do this we would have to draft a charter or something. I believe I have the AQP US's version in my folder of legal stuff. Ours could be similar.

Just some thoughts rambling through my head.

Afghan started

Here is the first photo of my Zodiac afghan. It is a Hearthside afghan, 7 squares wide by 9 squares high. I will be stitching the zodiac signs for all our family members. This square is in honour of my late mother-in-law. I will have 3 other back-stitched squares with various other things in them. Some squares will be blank, but 27 other squares will have the zodiac symbols. I started at my parents and went down to my sister's baby-to-be. I also started with my father-in-law and went down to my great-neice. That is how I arrived at 27 people. I also included the fiance of my neice Sonya, since Mark is an almost official family member.

Today is...

...Cinco de Mayo! In honour of the occasion we are having tacos for dinner. Okay, so they aren't REAL Mexican, but close enough.
