Angel of the Sea ( Jan. 27/06 photo )

For some reason this picture turned out better than Autumn Queen's ( scroll down a few entries if you want the link to her ) so I have decided to post it. Last week I worked on the lower right area of waves. She is at about 148 hours now.

I love RONA!

Yesterday on the way back from Lucas Mac's 2nd birthday party we stopped at the RONA near Costco by the Sumas border crossing. T had seen light fixtures there that sounded like what we are looking for. We desperately needed new lighting in our living room area. We got nice brushed pewter stuff that has frosted glass shades. They are basic, nice-looking lamps neither too "modern" or too "antique". Best of all, the price!
2 table lamps, 1 floor lamp, 1 5-light chandelier, a ceiling fan with light, and 6 light-bulbs for $281 plus $40 for the tax man.

Andrea and Lisa I told T that he should call up G and Manny for help with the fan!

Cough, cough, sniff, sniff

Dang! I've been avoiding germs so far so good into the school year, but the run of luck has ended. By the time I went to bed last night my throat was on fire and I felt like I had been hit by a train. Now whenever I have a spoonful of Buckley's the kids say, "Mommy can we see you make the face?" They love that ad on TV. The stuff is so foul that you can't help but make the face. It works like a hot damn though.

So I will endeavor to make it through the Sock Hop at Weezie's school tomorrow with the help of heavy meds. The school opened in Sept. 1955 so all of the activities this year have a 50's theme. On Valentine's Day we are having a hula hoop contest.

Aussie pictures

Our nephew Joel and his girlfriend Julie are in Australia for 3 months. They are working at a resort near Brisbane. Jule is doing housekeeping and Joel is a porter. They sent us a couple of pictures. The kangaroo one is cute! They have very soft noses.

Autumn Queen

I've got her up to about 97 hours now. I don't like how pictures of stitching turn out when I post them on my blog, so her is a link to Her Majesty instead.

I will put Angel of the Sea back on the Q-snaps today or tomorrow and carry on with her. I hope to do an update photo of her next weekend.

Bryan Adams

Great concert at GM Place last night! Bryan always does a little extra for the home-town crowd. The kids loved it. Kaiser fell asleep just before the encore. Weezie sang and boogied and clapped until the end.
He played a good mix of old favourites and some newer stuff. T and I went to his concert in '92 or '93. It was good to see him again, and hear some things that we missed when he came around 2 or 3 years ago. He chose a girl from the audience to sing "When You're Gone" with him. She was pretty good. Tiffany from Burnaby was there with her boyfriend and his family and Bryan said he would get them all tour shirts.
I remember plenty of lighters and a few glo-sticks from last time. Last night during "Everything I Do" and "Heaven" it was lighters, lots of glo-sticks and off course tons of cell phones.
He saved "Cloud Number Nine" , "Run to You", and something else that I forget for the encore. We then got treated to just him and the acoustic for a few songs like "Straight From the Heart" and "All For Love".
The kids are asking when we can see him again!

I was trying to explain to them about changing the arena around for different stuff. The Canucks are at home against Buffalo tonight so they can see it on TV in hockey mode. It's back to concert set-up again for Friday night for Nickleback. My sister-in-law Lorraine is going to that concert too.

The show she wants to watch is...

..."Holmes on Homes". The kids were snuggling with us before bed last night. Hubby is channel surfing. He goes past Home and Garden TV ( channel 34 or something here ) and Weezie says, "Go back Daddy." So we watched Mike and the gang put a new deck on the front off a couple of townhouses, plus a few other things.
T and I watch Mike Holmes a lot. We think he's great. I kind of think he's cute. It's those brown overalls! I guess she likes to watch home reno stuff. Or maybe she like Mike too! While watching the Junior Hockey gold medal game she thought that Canada's goalie, Justin Pogge, was cute. For those of you that don't know her, my daughter is almost 7 1/2 years old.

Etcetera

T and I had date night tonight. We went to Parallel 49 ( formerly Fogg n Suds ) and had pretty good prime rib. They haven't really changed the decor, which is sort of upscale pub.

It was nice to get through the day without a drop of rain. We ran around doing errands this morning, including finalizing our paperwork at Granville Spas. The new hot tub will be here on Thursday!

I only completed just over 3 hours of work on Angel of the Sea this week. So I have not taken an update picture. We had quiet afternoon earlier so I got some time in on Autumn Queen. This coming week doesn't look quite as busy at school so I hope to get a good amount of work done on her before I go back to Sea next weekend.

Yesterday Weezie and did some scrapbooking. I got Thanskgiving '02 done and our trip through the pumpkin patch on Luckakuck. Next up is Halloween.

Winter Queen at 48 hours.

I finished up about 8 hours worth of work on her this weekend. I am doing a week-by-week rotation. Most of this past rotation round I did the Wisper in various areas, the silver braid in her hair and all the beads in her crown.

This design orginally had a light blue dress. I changed it to lilac instead.

If you can't stand hypocrisy...

My dad emailed me this. Had to blog it.

An honest man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busyboulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him.He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he couldhave beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman hit the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustrationas she missed her chance to get through the intersection. As she was stillin mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of avery serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car withher hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened thedoor. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officerwas waiting with her personal effects.
He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind yourcar while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you,and cussing a blue streak at him. "I noticed the 'Choose Life' licenseplate holder, the What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me toSunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblemon the trunk.
Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car."

Gold medal again!!!!!!

Yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done boys. 5-0 against the Russians. For the team with only 1 returning player from last year ( Cam Barker, who didn't even play in the medal round last year because he had mono ), the team that was supposed to be nothing much, the medal was totally deserved because they worked their butts off! Kudos to Sutter for a great coaching job.

So much for the supposed-to-be great Team USA. Sorry to my American friends, but we heard a lot about how they had 8 players back from '05 and Kessels is really great. I watched a couple of their games expecting to be dazzled. Guess not. I was impressed by their goalie, Schneider, who is a Canucks draft pick.

So much for the much vaunted Evgeni Malkin. Didn't do anything really. Managed his offensive player award for being good earlier in the tournament obviously.

Can't wait for next year in Sweden. Three in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta bring my CDs so I can get more than 6 page sides done. No chatting!

The weekend is at Stillwood Camp, at the south end of Cultus Lake. Guru is thinking of doing one in May too. Sign me up! ( Unless it is the long weekend or the weekend of the 5th and 6th ).
